Pre-Season Update
The Monroe Heat is looking forward to another great season! After a Flight 1 season that saw the Heat competitive, they are looking to return to their winning ways in the Fall. The full-sided field will allow for the Heat to make use of their trememdous ball control skills and speed. The Heat are excited to welcome several new players to the team: Alessio, Paul, John, Diego, and Luis. These five players will help round out the roster and attempt to fill the void created by the departure of some key components of the Monroe attack: Christian, Matt and Chris. The Heat is anxious to begin the Fall season. Let’s Go Heat!

The Monroe Heat season got off to a great start beating a strong NJSA 04 Madrid team at Prospect Plains Park. The hard fought battle saw the two teams exchange attacking efforts until the Liam Craver was able to put a shot past the NJSA goal keeper making the score 1-0 at the half. The second half was more of the same with the two teams working hard to score. Alessio Mauriello of the Heat was able to score one midway through the second half putting the Heat up 2-0. Outstanding effort by NJSA goalkeeper Christian Pomponio prevented the Heat from scoring again. With some help from the goalpost and the tremendous play of Heat goalkeeper Chris Jones, Monroe was able to hold off late pressure by NJSA. Final score: 2-1. The Heat plays again at 1:00pm Sunday versus Scotch Plains at Prospect Plains Park.

The Heat made it two in a row with a win against Scotch Plains-Fanwood Ironmen. Outstanding efforts were put in by the entire Heat team. Despite a slow start, the Heat got on the scoreboard courtesy of a super strike by Nicky Cruz. The Heat was able to hold off attacks by the Ironmen for most the rest of the 1st half. The Heat dominated most of the second half. Outstanding passing and defensive efforts were the hallmark of the Heat team. Liam Craver netted his second goal of the season with a huge strike from outside the Ironmen 18-yard line to make it 2-0. Monroe nearly added to their lead later in the game but was unable to connect with anything but the crossbar. Monroe continues it's season on Saturday, 9/25, and then travels to New Brunswick on Sunday, 9/26. Go Heat!
