MTSC Makes Significant Structure Changes to Programs

In a growing effort to help provide a better environment for all players and listening to many parents suggestions for improvement, the club has decided to change its format for the In Town Soccer Division.   As a result, all divisions within the In Town Soccer Division will be restructured.  The purpose of this restructuring is to provide a better playing environment and promote more touches on the ball.  The new In Town Soccer Format is to align closer with other clubs, and more importantly, match the development recommendations encouraged by United States Youth Soccer philosophy of maximizing touches for players on the ball.

Division information can be viewed in the links to the left.
Welcome to Monroe In Town Soccer
Division Breakdown

In Town Soccer is groups of players, both male and female, broken down by ages, playing soccer in a casual but competitive setting. The games are usually played on Sundays at Prospect Plains and Thompson Parks in Monroe Twp, with the exception of the Senior Division-3M League, which plays on Saturdays. The Shrimp division  may “practice” on Saturdays or Sundays. This decision is up to the individual coach. There are no formal games for the Shrimps division.

MTSC provides all players with a uniform.  Players are required to wear shin guards (socks must be worn OVER the shin guards).  Cleats are recommended for K-12 players.  Shrimps may wear cleats or sneakers.

Why Small-Sided Games?
From US Youth Soccer Association

US Youth Soccer has thought long and hard about the answer to the question, "Why Small-Sided Games?"

What does "Small-Sided Games" mean? These are soccer games with fewer players competing on a smaller sized field. These are fun games that involve the players more because fewer players are sharing one ball.

Here are some of the reasons why we believe, as soccer coaches, administrators and parents must guarantee that our young soccer players play small-sided games:

1. Because we want our young soccer players to touch the soccer ball more often and become more skillful with it! (Individual technical development)

PARKING at Thompson Park

There is NO PARKING allowed on any grass area at Thompson Park, except along Perrineville Road on Sundays (behind the tree line).  There is absolutely NO PARKING along Fir Drive (road that brings you into the park).

All cars must use the designated parking areas during the week, regardless of which field their child is playing.  These are the rules for use of Thompson Park, as determined by the County.  Anyone not adhering to these rules will be ticketed by the Park Rangers.

It is the coach’s responsibility to ensure that parents park in appropriate areas.

COACHES- F License Classes

MTSC asks that all coaches attend an F License Course in order to coach Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels.  MTSC will reimburse your fee upon completion of the course and receipt of a copy of the F license.  Once you have completed a course, bring a copy of license/receipt to Monroe Recreation Center on Monmouth Road and ask the desk attendant to place it in the Soccer Folder.
